Marangu is the oldest and best-known route on Kilimanjaro, often called the “Coca-Cola” route. Its gentle, steady slope makes it the easiest path on the mountain, and it is the only route where you sleep in mountain huts with bunk beds instead of tents.

Five days is the minimum time on the mountain. We tell every climber honestly: with only five days, the chance of reaching the top is lower, because the body has little time to adjust. If you can, take the six-day climb — one extra night at Horombo makes a real difference.

  • The only route with permanent sleeping huts
  • The shortest climb and the lowest price
  • A gentle, well-made path
  • Same way up and down — easy to follow
  • Popular in the rainy season, when huts are a comfort

Preguntas

Preguntas sobre este viaje

Is 5 days enough to climb Kilimanjaro?

It is the minimum, and many people do reach the top. But your body has very little time to adjust to the altitude, so the success rate is lower. If you can spare one more day, choose Marangu Route 6 Days.

Do I need a sleeping bag in the huts?

Yes. The huts have bunk beds with mattresses and pillows, but you bring your own warm sleeping bag. You can rent one in Moshi — tell us when you book.
