Njia: Moshi – Umbwe Gate – Cave Bivouac – Barranco – Karanga – Barafu – Uhuru Peak – Mweka

1. Siku 1Arrival in Moshi

   We meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (or pick you up anywhere in Moshi or Arusha) and drive you to Maridadi Hotel. In the evening your lead guide comes to brief you on the route, check your gear and answer every question.

2. Siku 2Umbwe Gate to Cave Bivouac

   From Umbwe Gate (1,800 m) the path climbs steeply — and can be slippery — through a mossy cloud forest that slowly opens into heath and grassland.

3. Siku 3Cave Bivouac to Barranco Camp

   Along a narrow ridge and over open moorland to the beautiful Barranco Valley, framed by giant senecios and lobelias.

4. Siku 4Barranco Wall to Karanga Valley

   A scramble up the Barranco Wall, sometimes using your hands, then a steep descent into the green Karanga river valley.

5. Siku 5Karanga to Barafu Camp

   Across alpine desert with views of the glaciers to Barafu, with Kibo and Mawenzi above. Rest — you wake before midnight.

6. Siku 6Summit night: Uhuru Peak and down to Mweka Camp

   A steep night climb to Stella Point, then a gentler walk along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Then the long way down to Mweka Camp.

7. Siku 7Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

   Down through the forest — slippery after rain — to Mweka Gate, your certificate and the drive back to Moshi.

8. Siku 8Departure
