   Below the steep wall of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara mixes groundwater forest, open floodplain and a soda lake. Look for baboons, elephants, hippos, flamingos and the park's famous tree-climbing lions.

3. Jour 3Lake Manyara to the Serengeti

   A picnic lunch and a game drive on the way into the Serengeti.

4. Jour 4Full day in the Serengeti

   Morning and afternoon game drives across the plains of the Seronera Valley, famous for its lions, leopards and cheetahs — and, depending on the season, the herds of the Great Migration. A visit to Olduvai Gorge and its small museum can be added.

5. Jour 5Full day in the Serengeti

9. Jour 9Tarangire and departure

   Lunch at the lodge, an evening game drive in Tarangire, then the transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport.
