Despite its equatorial location, Kilimanjaro’s summit is adorned with glaciers, contributing to its unique allure.
This is one of the most scenic and popular mountain routes and offers adventurous climbers stunning scenic outlooks.
The route offers trekkers a unique wilderness experience where it is possible to see large wildlife like antelope, elephants and buffalo.
Commonly known as the Coca Cola route is more popular because it can be done in fewer days and has permanent sleep huts at the campsites.
This route is recommended for climbers with a great climbing experience. It joins the Machame route at Barranco camp on the second day.
Lemosho Route, a relatively new route, is preferred by reputable operators due to its beauty, remoteness and higher success rate.

This man knows exactly what he's doing. Not only does he speak excellent English and have extensive knowledge of Tanzania, but he is also respectful and goes out of his way to satisfy his guests. Let me start from the beginning. He first gave us a brief overview to refresh our understanding of the upcoming safari. Then we set off, and during the drive, there were always pleasant conversations, and we learned a lot about the country and the locals. Once on the safari, Deniz Mlay was right at home; he knew the area better than anyone else. He was not only a superb driver but also knew every shortcut and route. He was familiar with the staff at the park entrances, which allowed us more time to see animals in the national parks since he helped us get ahead of others. Deniz Mlay also has an incredibly extensive knowledge of the animals and the nature there. He could answer every question. We saw almost all the animals you could hope to see—INCLUDING A RHINO! Even after the safari, he remained helpful, doing everything to meet our needs. For instance, when we wanted to buy souvenirs, he took us to the local museum to ensure we didn't overpay. I can only recommend this safari guide/ expert and would gladly go on another safari with Deniz Mlay NJOFU anytime!VerifiedTomaz Z2024-07-31Excellent choice for a safari! The guide Joseph Temba is very kind, efficient in finding animals and experienced in driving around the parks. Accommodation and food were just perfect and Amos organized it all in his typical efficient way at a very competitive price (we followed personal advice from past visitors and we share their excellent impressions). We immensely enjoyed it, highly recommended!VerifiedKonrad W2024-07-24Fun and adventure in Tanzania. Now we are finally home and watch the videos and photos from our trip to Tanzania. The safari guide Johnny was the best. He is very experienced in safaris and has knowledge of Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. He made sure we felt comfortable and enjoyed the safari. We have seen many different animals, including elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, wildebeest, warthogs and many others. We had booked nice lodges that were excellent.VerifiedRay M2024-07-18If you are looking for a customized trip at a good price, do what we did! A group of 12 of us wanted a custom tour – we wanted to first spend a few days around Moshi, then get dropped off for a non-tour layover in Iringa to stay with some friends, then ‘on safari’ to Ruaha, four Northern Tier parks, Olduvai Gorge, and a Maasai boma. Migration Venture Africa did all this for us and did it well. We stayed at some nice lodges (Ruaha River Lodge, Heart & Soul, Tukaone Tented Camp in Serengeti, plus others) and had great guides yet the price was lower than if we tried to do this with the standard tours we found on the internet. Migration Venture Africa adjusted our schedule a couple of times to optimize the trip. For example, our first full day in Moshi was to be for resting and getting acclimated to the time change. But 9 of us wanted to go on a Moshi city tour to see the town and market, and 3 of us wanted to go on a day hike to Mandara Hut, the Kilimanjaro Marangu trail’s first camp on the way up to the summit. We were going to use some daytrips we found online. Migration Venture Africa said they could do these same trips for us, and their prices were lower than the internet price. On the Kilimanjaro day hike, our hiking guide was Rogath, who is credited with 87 ascents of Kilimanjaro, so this day hike was nothing for him. However it was for us – 2,760 ft (840 m) elevation gain through the rainforest – but we got to see Colobus monkeys and tree hyrax, and the forest was cool and primeval. On the safaris: Expert driving. Near sundown we were coming back to the Ruaha River Lodge from a wildlife viewing trip. A big bull elephant blocked our way and charged our vehicle. Our guide and driver Onesmo put the vehicle in reverse and backed up at speed with the elephant chasing us. For about ½ km. The elephant finally walked off the road, and we sped by to get away. Sometimes you need a good driver! The Iringa layover: it’s a long drive from Moshi to Iringa so we got a charter flight from Arusha to Iringa (Auric Air Services), then flew back from Ruaha (a dirt runway –had to chase the warthog off the runway to take off!) to Arusha. Migration Venture Africa handled all the ground connections. Thanks to Amos who arranged a visit for our group to a local orphanage in Moshi (as well as organizing the whole trip!). And thank you to our guides who showed us the best and took care of us well: Rogath in Kilimanjaro NP; Thadei and Onesmo in Ruaha NP; Noel and Denis in the Northern Tier parks.Verifiednicke13462024-07-185 day safari Joseph temba was an excellent guide. Highly recommend. 5 day safari was great. 3-4 safari would be good as well if you are short on timeVerifiedMichela S2024-07-17Private Safari 5 days mid range We organized a personalized private safari thanks to Amos who was quick and accurate in the responses. 5-day Safari with Guide Joseph who accompanied us in this wonderful experience to discover as many animals. Experienced, patient and helpful Guide. He indulged our times and our major interests during Game Drives. The accommodation we stayed in was very nice and welcoming. Consigliamo vivamente la Migration Venture Africa!VerifiedDogukan Emndar2024-07-16An exceptional safari experience. Our trip to Tanzania with Noel, our safari guide, was an incredible experience. We were lucky to have Noel with us as he is an excellent driver, great at tracking wildlife and has extensive knowledge of everything about Tanzania. The Things to do and sounds in the parks kept us fully engaged as we moved from one action spot to another. The choice of lodges was excellent. They were all great. I highly recommend Migration Venture Africa for excellent safaris.VerifiedSeamus Chinkky2024-07-09Excellent Family Trip My family had an amazing 8 day private safari with guide Noel of Migration Venture Africa. We saw many different animals ranging from huge elephants to the small dik diks. In the vast Serengeti the wildebeest were migrating North towards Masai Mara in Kenya, we managed to see three river crossings with Noel which was totally out of this world. He knew all there was to know about the animals and parks and loved listining to his captivating and witty narrations. The trip was well designed by our host Amos. We enjoyed the lodges very much as they had excellent service. Staying at Melia in Serengeti was enchanting, its an awesome experience! I also found Entamanu in Ngorongoro very good. This was a fabulous experience and we will be going on another trip very soon with Migration Venture Africa.VerifiedAlessandro C2024-07-06An unforgettable journey An unforgettable experience that me and my girlfriend will keep forever.
