Discover Nyerere National Park (Selous)
For more than a century this was the Selous Game Reserve, one of the largest protected areas in Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. In 2019 its northern part became Nyerere National Park, named after Tanzania's first president.
The Rufiji River and its lakes are the heart of the park, and boat safaris here are unlike anything in the north. It is also one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered African wild dog.
